Casey McMasters joins the Saint Leo coaching staff for the 2015-16 season.
In his first year at Saint Leo, McMasters helped guide the Lions to a 19-12 overall record and a 10-6 mark in the Sunshine State Conference. Under his guidance, Saint Leo made a trip to the SSC Tournament, including hosting an SSC quarterfinals game, and headed back to the NCAA Postseason with a regional appearance.
McMasters previously worked with head coach Vince Alexander on the staff at USC-Aiken during the 2014-15 season.
Prior to returning to his alma mater to coach, McMasters worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue. While in Pennsylvania, McMasters was the boys’ junior varsity coach at Central Dauphin H.S., in Harrisburg, Pa. He coached the team for two seasons.
McMasters was a four-year letterwinner at USC Aiken under Alexander. After his freshman season, he was tabbed the Male Freshman Athlete of the Year. A two-time Peach Belt Conference all-academic team selection, McMasters was tabbed the team captain for his senior season. He was on the Dean’s List every semester during his collegiate career.
As a freshman, McMasters averaged 10.2 points while playing 27 games. He also earned 19 starts. McMasters canned a team-best 59 three-point shots and led the team by netting 84.9 percent of his free throws. He played in all 31 games as a sophomore, tallying 10 starts. McMasters tallied a 2.1-1.0 assist-to-turnover ratio that season.
He played in 27 games as a junior. That season, McMasters drained 50.8 percent of his shots from the floor, including 47.7 percent from downtown. During his senior season, he played in all 31 games, earning 28 starts. McMasters averaged 9.8 points a contest but increased it to 10.1 during conference competition. He canned 45.8 percent of his field goals and 44.6 percent of his shots from the three-point line.
McMasters is a 2010 graduate of USC-Aiken with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Finance.
