Dewberry named Preseason All-American by DII Bulletin

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo senior Marcus Dewberry was named a preseason All-American by the Division II Bulletin, and he was named to finish as the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year, announced on Thursday, Oct. 6.

Dewberry, who was a 2015-16 D2CCA all-south region first team selection and an NABC all-south district first team selection, was named a preseason all-American heading into his final season in the green and gold.

On the list released by the DII Bulletin, Dewberry was one of two Sunshine State Conference players to be named preseason all-Americans. Dewberry was joined by Barry University's Elvar Fridriksson, who was selected as an honorable mention all-American.

Dewberry led the team last year to the NCAA South Region tournament where they fell to regional host Alabama-Huntsville, 98-81. The Lions and Chargers kick off the 2016-17 season on Nov. 12 at North Alabama as part of the Sunshine State/Gulf South Conference challenge.
