SAINT LEO, Fla. – On senior night in the Bowman Center, Saint Leo's men's basketball team defeated Tampa 74-59 on Saturday, February 27th, to notch their 18th win of the season. The Lions honored one senior, Trey Griseck who finished the regular season out with a seven point five rebound effort in 34 minutes of action.

Saint Leo was led by Tyreece Brice who scored 19 points off the bench. Caleb Stewart put up 17 points as Marcus Dewberry score 13 points. The Lions shot 46.6-percent from the field and 46.7-percent from beyond the arc in the game while shooting 86.7-percent from the free throw line.

How It Happened 
1H | The Spartans controlled the first 11 minutes of the game going up by as many as six points two times before the Lions cut it down to one point and took the lead at 17-16 with 9:48 to play on a Ryan Burnett Layup. Tampa took the lead back 18-17 before Saint Leo regained it at 19-18 and never looked back. A Marcus Dewberry three pointer with 4:09 in the first put the Lions up by their largest lead, 10 points, in the first half. The Spartans cut the Lions lead to six points heading into halftime as Saint Leo led 37-31 at the break. 2H |  A Caleb Stewart layup within the first three minutes of action in the second half put the Lions back up by 10, 45-35. Tampa would cut into that lead and get within four points with 12:35 to play, 48-44. Tyreece Brice hit back-to-back three pointers to put the Lions up by nine with 10 minutes to go. With 1:57 to play, Caleb Stewart hit a three pointer to push Saint Leo above the double-digit lead mark as the Lions went up by 11 points 70-59, before Saint Leo would hold Tampa scoreless for the final minute, while adding four points of their own. Dewberry went four-of-four from the line in the final minute as Saint Leo went on for the 15 point victory.   • Three players scored in double-figures as Tyreece Brice led the way with 19 points, Caleb Stewart added 17 and Marcus Dewberry chipped in 13.
  • The Lions outrebounded Tamps by two, 39-37, led by Brice who hauled in eight boards.
  • Dewberry was close to recording another triple-double as he finished with his 13 points, eight assists and seven rebounds.
  • Stewart finished the night with four blocks as the Lions had seven total, Ryan Burnett added two and Dewberry had one.
  • As a team, the Lions shot 46.6-percent from the field, 46.7-percent from three point land and 86.7-percent from the free throw line.
  • Saint Leo outscored the Spartans 26-20 in the paint while scoring 14 points off of Tampa's 14 turnovers. The Lions won the bench scoring mark with a 27-2 margin.
  • The Lions held their opposition to a 26.9-percent three point shooting total allowing just 7-of-26 three's.

For the Spartans

  • Tampa got a double-double from Jaylen Taylor who scored 12 points and grabbed 14 rebounds.
