Cold Shooting Night Leads to Loss for Lions at Embry-Riddle

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's basketball team fell 96-56 at Embry-Riddle, behind Tyreece Brice's 15 point effort inside the ICI Center on Saturday, February 13th.

A cold night from downtown for the Lions saw Saint Leo drop their 24th game of the season to Embry-Riddle Saturday night. A hot shooting Eagles team buried the Lions as they went 17-for-33 from three point land while Saint Leo missed on all 21 attempts. The Lions shot 31.9-percent from the field compared to their opposition's 44.4-percent from the field.

Saint Leo received 15 points from Tyreece Brice and 11 points from Ryan Burnett off the bench for the night. Burnett led the team in rebounds with seven. Lawrence Watt and Marcus Dewberry both chipped in seven points. Saint Leo would outscore Embry-Riddle in the paint 30-24 as the Lions held the advantage in points off the bench at 38-25.

How It Happened…

1H | The Eagles ran out to a quick lead and never looked back in the opening half of the game, as they got hot and hot very quick connecting on 7-of-15 from beyond the arc in the half. Embry-Riddle jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first four minutes of play. ERAU would lead the first half as they extended their lead out to the largest of the half of 27 points with 1:55 to go, 47-20. Saint Leo would close the half outscoring the Eagles 7-1 to go into the locker room down 48-27. At the half, the Lions are led by Tyreece Brice and Ryan Burnett who each have eight points as Burnett leads the team with five boards. 2H | Embry-Riddle came out of the locker room and would make the first bucket pushing their lead to 51-27. Saint Leo would hit two quick jumpers from Marcus Dewberry and Tyreece Brice to pull within 20, 51-31, with 18:18 on the clock. ERAU would push their lead to 29 points with 16:11 to play as the Lions would get back within 27 points, and would stay within 27 breaking that and getting no closer than 26 points at 64-38.   • Tyreece Brice led the team with 15 points. Ryan Burnett was second with 11 points and 7 rebounds.
  • Lawrence Watt and Marcus Dewberry added 7 apiece.
  • Saint Leo outscored ERAU 38-25 in bench points and held the slight edge, 30-24, of points in the paint.
  • As a team, the Lions shot 31.9-percent from the field and was 66.7-percent from the free throw line.

For the Eagles

  • Embry-Riddle had six players score in double-figures led by Daniel Kiesling (16) and Ognjen Miljkovic (16). Reed Ridder added 15, Dalton Barnes had 14, Skyler Hogan had 13 as Dillon Graham finished with 10. Hogan finished with 11 rebounds to record a double-double.
  • The Eagles held the Lions to zero-percent shooting from beyond the arc as Saint Leo went 0-21 on the night. ERAU shot 51.5-percent themselves from three point land and shot 44.4-percent from the field. Embry-Riddle led the rebounding as they grabbed 52 compared to Saint Leo's 35.
