Dewberry earns SSC Offensive Player of the Week

SAINT LEO, Fla. - Saint Leo men's basketball guard Marcus Dewberry averaged 24 points a game last week, and added two impressive performances in the process, earning him his second Sunshine State Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors, for the week ending January 10, 2016.

In the Lions first road win of the season, Dewberry recorded a career-best 34 points in a 99-94 win at Florida Tech. He shot an impressive five of eight from beyond the arc, and connected on a season-high 13 made shots. He added four rebounds, three assists and two steals to his stat line.

He followed up his career performance with the shot of the season, as he took the ball coast-to-coast with six seconds left in a tied game with Rollins at home. The swift guard grabbed the defensive rebound and drove the length of the court and hit the lay-up as the buzzer sounded to give the Lions a 77-75 win over the Tars. Dewberry finished the game with 14 points, adding five rebounds, and two assists.

Over the week, he connected on nine of 17 shots from deep, for an impressive 52.9-percent from the field, and hit 56.3-percent from the field.

This was Dewberry's second honor of the season, and his career.

The Lions are back in action on Wednesday, Jan. 13 at 7:30 PM as they host Embry-Riddle.
