Foxx named Honorable Mention All-SSC

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo men's basketball senior Ron Foxx was tabbed for the All-Sunshine State Conference teams which were unveiled on Wednesday.

A 6-7 forward for the Lions, Foxx was named to the Honorable Mention squad. This is Foxx's first all-conference honor.

"I am very happy for Ron. We are a basketball program of hard work and nobody works harder than Ron Foxx," said Lance Randall, Saint Leo head men's basketball coach. "I am especially pleased because Ron exemplifies the character, positive attitude and team first mentality that is so important to the culture of Saint Leo men's basketball. His work ethic, determination and selfless spirit is the model for the young student-athletes in our program and throughout our Saint Leo community."

Foxx averaged 15.1 points and 6.0 rebounds during the regular season, and was one of the league's top free throw shooters. His 137 free throws made ranked second in the SSC and 37th in all of Division II, and Foxx's .856 free throw percentage was fourth in the conference and 42nd in the nation.

Foxx was sixth in the SSC in scoring, with four double-doubles this season. He logged six 20-point games during the 2014-15 season, including a career-high 24 points on January 18, 2015, in a nationally-televised game versus Lynn.

The two-year starter at Saint Leo heads into the 2015 Sunshine State Conference Men's Basketball Championship with 1,077 career points, including his freshman and sophomore seasons at Miles College.

Saint Leo completed the season with a 14-14 overall record, 6-10 in the SSC and tied for fifth place in the conference standings. The Lions open play in the 2015 SSC tournament on Friday, March 6, when they face second-seeded Barry University (22-4, 13-3 SSC). Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
