Seniors spotlight Saint Leo win over NSU

SAINT LEO, Fla. – In a day honoring the contributions of its senior class, the Saint Leo University men's basketball team charted a 73-59 win over Nova Southeastern University, Saturday at the Marion Bowman Activities Center. 

The victory improves the Lions record to 14-14, with a 6-10 tally in Sunshine State Conference play while the visiting Sharks conclude 11-15 with a 6-10 mark in conference matchups.

Senior Ron Foxx led the charge, scoring 17 points along with eight rebounds and a pair of assists.  Fellow Seniors Devin Crisosto and Taylor Bassett each netted 12 while Marcus Dewberry added 13 for the balanced offensive attack.  Dewberry and Crisosto each dished out five as the latter grabbed seven boards.

Guard Trey Griseck notched 11 points and eight rebounds as the Lions avenged its road loss to the Sharks.

Saint Leo outrebounded NSU 34 to 26 as the team never surrendered a lead after jumping to an early lead in the first half.

An explosive opening gave the Lions a 44-31 lead heading into half time.  The Green and Gold began with a 14-0 run before the Sharks scored a field-goal. Crisosto totaled 10 points in the first frame while Foxx added nine.  Griseck posted six points while grabbing five boards as the Lions took a commanding lead into the intermission.

The Lions continued to roll in the second stanza, as the home team ousted the Sharks 73-59 to finish regular-season play.  Foxx scored eight points in the second half while Crisosto grabbed five boards. 

Saint Leo concludes regular season play and awaits final seeding in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament in Kissimmee, Fla. The men's quarterfinal round will begin Friday, March 6 at the Silver Spurs Arena.
