The senior guard averaged 23 points per game in the SSC Tournament
SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo University men's basketball standout Jerrel Harris was named to the 2014 Sunshine State Conference Men's Basketball Championship All-Tournament Team this past weekend
Harris, a 5-10 senior guard from Milwaukee, averaged 23 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game in the Lions' two games of the tournament. In 62 minutes of action, Harris shot 50 percent (13-for-26) from the field, 40 percent (4-for-10) from three-point range and 69.5 percent (16-for-23) from the three-point line.
Harris recorded 18 points and dished out three assists and one steal in Saint Leo's 63-53 win over Lynn on March 6 in the tournament quarterfinals. The next night he poured in 28 points, grabbed six rebounds and had two assists in the Lions' 60-59 loss to Tampa. Against the Spartans, Harris was 8-for-18 from the field, including 10-for-13 from behind the three-point arc.
The Lions, who are 23-8 on the year, just earned their third consecutive trip to the 64-team NCAA Tournament. Saint Leo is the No. 2 seed in the south region and will face the No. 7 seed West Alabama on March 15 at Florida Southern University.
Also honored along with Harris were: Kevin Capers (Tournament Most Valuable Player) and Frank Adams of Florida Southern, Vincent Cornu and Jordan Davis of Tampa and Josh Snodgrass of Eckerd.
