Saint Leo Goes Dancing for the Second-Straight Season

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – For the second-straight season Coach Lance Randall and the 16th-ranked Saint Leo men's basketball team have earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament.

The Lions (21-7) are the South Region's No. 4 seed and will face No. 5 Rollins College (19-9) in the South Region Championship Quarterfinal Round game on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. in Lakeland, Fla.

The NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Committee announced at the Sunday selection show the field of 64 teams that will compete in the 2013 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship.  The South Region hosting duties fell on top seeded Florida Southern, who claimed the Sunshine State Conference Tournament Title earlier in the day.

This will be the fourth time this season that Saint Leo and Rollins have squared off, with the Lions sweeping the regular season series against the Tars.  Rollins got a measure of revenge just last Saturday as the Tars defeated Saint Leo 62-53 in the SSC Tournament Semifinals.  Rollins would move on to the Championship Game where they would fall to Florida Southern, 72-66.

This also marks the second consecutive season where the Lions have played in the No. 4-5 seed game, appearing as the fifth seed last season.

The tournament will begin with four quarterfinal games on Saturday, March 16.  The semifinals will be contested on Sunday, March 17, and the South Region Championship final will be played on Tuesday, March 19.

The winner of the South Regional will face the winner of the West Regional in one of the four national quarterfinal games on Thursday, March 28, in Louisville, Ky. The 2013 NCAA Division II National Championship game will be held in conjunction with the Men's Division I Final Four in celebration of 75 Years of March Madness as the DII and DIII titles games will be played at Phillips Arena in Atlanta, Ga., on Sunday, April 7.
