Countdown to Conference, Day #3 - SSC Championship Pairings Announced

WINTER PARK, Fla. - With the final SSC regular-season games in the books, the pairings are set for the 2012 Sunshine State Conference Men's Basketball Championship. The tournament will begin with quarterfinal games hosted by the four highest seeds on Wednesday, Feb. 29. The semifinals and finals will be hosted by Florida Southern College on Saturday, Mar. 3 and Sunday, Mar. 4.

Florida Tech (21-5, 12-4 SSC) locked up the SSC regular-season title and the top seed in the tournament with its win at Tampa on Saturday. Eckerd (19-7, 11-5) will be the No. 2 seed, and Saint Leo (16-10, 10-6) has secured the No. 3 slot, marking the first time the Lions have ever hosted an SSC post-season game.

Rollins and Florida Southern tied with a 9-7 record in league play. Rollins (16-10, 9-7) claimed the No. 4 seed by virtue of sweeping its regular-season series against Florida Southern (17-9, 9-7). The Moccasins will be the No. 5 seed.

Nova Southeastern (13-13, 7-9) took the No. 6 seed.

Lynn and Barry tied in the final standings with a 6-10 SSC mark. The teams split their regular-season series, and tiebreaking procedures call for the squads' records against the highest seeds to be examined. Barry (12-16, 6-10) received the No. 7 seed by splitting its series with No. 1 Florida Tech. Lynn (13-15, 6-10), which went 0-2 versus the Panthers, will carry the No. 8 seed.

Wednesday's quarterfinals will see No. 8 Lynn travel to No. 1 Florida Tech. No. 7 Barry will venture to No. 2 Eckerd. No. 6 NSU will play at No. 3 Saint Leo, and No. 5 Florida Southern will make the trek to No. 4 Rollins.
