Melbourne, Fla. (March 1, 2008) – The Saint Leo University men’s basketball team (13-14, 6-10 SSC) concluded its 2007-08 regular season with an 88-67 loss at Florida Tech (20-7, 9-7 SSC) on Saturday.

Dusty Driggs (Jr., Sharpsville, Ind.) led the Lions with 18 points in the contest, but Florida Tech had four players score in double figures to lead the home team to the win.  Carl McNally led all scorers with 24 points, while Justin Sedlak added 23 points in the win.

Tech scored the first five points of the game, but the Lions responded with five straight points of their own to tie it at five early on.  Saint Leo led by four with 15:05 left in the opening half before the Panthers put together a big scoring run to take charge of the game.  Tech’s run was 35-7 to give the home team a 24-point lead.  The Panthers led 50-29 at half-time.

In the second half, Tech did not let Saint Leo any closer than 16 points.  The lead grew to a game-high 27 points with 3:27 left.

Tech shot 57.1% for the game compared to 37.5% for Saint Leo.  The Panthers also made nine total three-pointers in the game, while the Lions made seven including five treys from Driggs.

The Lions will now be seeded seventh in the SSC Tournament, which begins on Tuesday.  Saint Leo will face number two seed Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Fla. with game time to be announced on Sunday when the official SSC Tournament bracket is revealed.
