Lakeland, Fla. (February 21, 2007) – The Saint Leo men’s basketball team (12-14, 5-10 SSC) fell 92-69 on the road at Florida Southern College (8-18, 3-12 SSC) on Wednesday night at Jenkins Field House in Lakeland, Fla.
Saint Leo junior guard Jonathan Banks (Tampa, Fla.) scored a season-high 20 points but the Lions were unable to overcome a game-high 23 points from Southern’s Cameron Wooten.
Florida Southern jumped out to an early lead 24 of the first 29 points and leading by 19 just 6:53 into the game. Although the Lions closed to within eight late in the half, FSC closed the half on an 18-7 run to lead by 19 at the break.
The Mocs didn’t let up in the second half, stretching their lead to as many as 24 points to earn a split of the season series.
Saint Leo will play its final game of the regular season on Saturday when the Lions head south to Boca Raton, Fla. to face Lynn University. Opening top for the men’s game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
