Melbourne, Fla. (February 10, 2007) – The Saint Leo men’s basketball team (12-11, 5-7 SSC) completed a sweep of the season series with Florida Tech (7-18, 3-10 SSC) by winning 77-71 on Saturday afternoon at the Clemente Center in Melbourne, Fla.

J.J. Turner (Sr., Tampa, Fla.) and Jordan Prais (Fr., Lakeland, Fla.) led the way for the Lions, as each scored 15 points in the win.  Kyle Rowland (So., North Port, Fla.) also scored 11 points, while Quentin Cullop (Fr., Winter Haven, Fla.) scored eight points and dished out eight assists in the total team win.

Saint Leo shot 48.8% (21-of-43) for the game, including a scorching 63.2% (12-of-19) from beyond the three-point arch.  Turner buried 5-of-6 from three-point land, as five different Saint Leo players were able to convert from downtown.

Tech’s E.J. Murray scored a game-high 24 points in defeat for the Panthers.

After falling behind 4-0, and trailing for the opening 10 minutes of the game Saint Leo took the lead on a three by Thomas Kaiser (Fr., Tampa, Fla.).  The Lions eventually led by six at half-time.

The Panthers fought back to tie the score for the fifth and final time with 17:06 left in the game.  Saint Leo built its lead up to a game-high 11 points with 4:18 left in the game, but a 13-3 run brought Tech to within one with 1:57 to play.  Prais went 5-of-6 from the free throw line down the stretch to seal the win and put the Lions a game above .500 overall.

The Lions return to the hardwood on Wednesday night when they host Rollins College in another SSC doubleheader.  Tip-off for the men’s game will be at 7:30 p.m.
