Saint Leo, Fla. (December 30, 2006) – Freshman Jordan Prais (Lakeland, Fla.) scored a career and game-high 26 points, and grabbed a career-high tying nine rebounds to lead the Saint Leo men’s basketball team (5-5) to an 80-74 win over Flagler College (4-8) in overtime on Saturday evening.
Prais was 11-of-15 from the floor en route to his career-high scoring output, and added five points in the overtime period to lead Saint Leo to a season series sweep of the Saints. Lions’ freshman guard Quentin Cullop (Winter Haven, Fla.) added 11 points, including a game-tying three-pointer with eight-seconds remaining in regulation to send the game into overtime.
The game was close throughout with neither team leading by more than seven points. The lead changed hands 14 times, and there were 15 ties.
After Cullop drained his three-pointer to send the game into OT, Saint Leo outscored Flagler 8-2 in the extra period to seal the win and even its record at 5-5. The Lions held the Saints without a field goal during the extra period.
Saint Leo will hit the hardwood again on Wednesday, January 3 when it returns to Sunshine State Conference action at the University of Tampa. Opening tip is slated for 7:30 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live on the Internet via the Saint Leo Athletics Audiocast Network.
