Harris named SSC Baseball Player of the Week

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo redshirt junior Dylan Harris batted .615 over three games in the Lions' series against No. 23 Florida Southern, and was rewarded with Sunshine State Conference Baseball Player of the Week honors for the week ending May 14, 2017.

Harris went 8-for-13 over the three games with the Mocs, helping Saint Leo baseball take two out of three games off Florida Southern and give the Lions their first series victory over the Moccasins since 2013.

He went 3-for-5 with two singles and a home run in Friday's 5-4 walk-off victory over Florida Southern, and his leadoff single in the ninth eventually produced the game-winning run. Harris went 2-for-4 with an RBI double in Sunday's 10-9 walk-off victory for the Lions in game two of the doubleheader, after going 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Sunday's first game which ended in an 11-5 loss for the Lions.

Harris' eight hits versus Florida Southern allowed him to finish the season with 99 hits, the most for a Saint Leo player since Brian Krot's 102 hits in 1999.

Harris tallied four runs and five RBI over the three games, with a .615 on base percentage and a 1.154 slugging percentage. The performance over the final weekend of the season helped raise Harris' final slash line for 2017 to .448/.472/.593.

Harris is the second Saint Leo baseball player to earn SSC player of the week honors this season; redshirt sophomore Derek Gibree earned the award on February 6, 2017, following the Lions' series against West Alabama.
