WINTER PARK, Fla. – After a standout performance in the Lions' season opener series at the University of North Georgia, junior Nick Perez was selected as the Sunshine State Conference baseball Player of the Week, presented by VALIC.
A native of Tampa, Fla., utility man Nick Perez led the No. 17/No. 28 Lions to a three-game sweep on the road at North Georgia. Perez batted .706 (12-for-17) with four hits in each game. In his debut with the green and gold, he tallied five RBIs and scored five runs. Perez slugged .941 with two doubles and one triple. He drove in two game-winning runs, including the winning RBI in the top of the 11th inning of game three for a 5-4 victory.

Perez and the Lions' team will be back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 5 when they host the visiting Johnson University Royals in their 2014 home opener. First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m. at Thomas B. Southard Stadium.
