Saint Leo Ranked 28th in Collegiate Baseball D2 Pre-Season Poll

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo baseball team has been ranked 28th in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Division II Pre-Season Poll, it was announced during the holiday break. The squad, who finished the 2013 season with their best record since 2001, is set to begin the 2014 season on the first of February.

Head coach Sean O'Connor has named 23 newcomers to the roster this season and the outlook is bright for the green and gold. In addition, key returners will carry the team through the tough Sunshine State Conference schedule.

The only other SSC team to receive a pre-season ranking is No. 1-ranked University of Tampa, who took home the NCAA D2 National Championship last year. Saint Leo earned one of Tampa's twelve losses last season during SSC play.

The Lions' squad will begin the 2014 season on Saturday, Feb. 1 when they travel to the University of North Georgia to take on the Nighthawks. The first pitch of the single game will be thrown out at 6:00 p.m.
