Revell, Dunnigan Take Home This Week's SSC Baseball Accolades

WINTER PARK, Fla. –Coming off a three-game sweep of Florida Southern, the Lions kept their momentum going on Monday, taking home two Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week awards. Senior Michael Revell was named Player of the Week and freshman starting pitcher Michael Dunnigan was named the conference's Pitcher of the Week, it was announced Monday afternoon from the conference office.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK -- Saint Leo senior 1B Michael Revell (Havana, Fla.) led the Lions to four wins, including an SSC series sweep against Florida Southern. Revell batted .667 (10-for-15) with 13 RBI and seven runs. He hit safely in all four contests and tallied multiple hits in three. Revell also blasted six extra-base hits en route to a healthy 1.237 slugging percentage. In a 19-1 win over FSC in the second game of the series, he went 3-for-4 with three doubles and two RBI. Revell struck again in the series finale, going a perfect 4-for-4 with a home run and a triple to drive home five runs. He concluded his week with a .667 on-base percentage and .971 fielding mark.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK -- Saint Leo freshman Michael Dunnigan (Tarpon Springs, Fla.) earned the win in the Lions' 10-1 SSC victory over Florida Southern. Pitching eight innings, Dunnigan allowed one earned run on four hits and three walks. He struck out five. The win gave the freshman a perfect 7-0 record for the season.

With the sweep of Florida Southern over the weekend, the Lions finished the regular season 35-14-1 and 14-9-1 in SSC play. Playing lights out the last few weeks, the Lions have accumulated a record of 12-2-1 over their last 15 games.

The 35-14-1 mark for Saint Leo is their best since 1996—when the team finished 42-15.
