Baseball Ranked Sixth in Latest NCBWA South Region Poll
PENSACOLA, Fla.—The latest NCBWA Division II South Region Rankings were unveiled today and Saint Leo University baseball took the sixth spot in the poll.
The Lions have started off the year 9-2 and have rattled off eight wins in a row. Not having a sweep since 2008—the Lions have now swept their opponent two consecutive weekends.
In the previous poll, Saint Leo was unranked but was receiving votes.
After dropping the first series of the year at home to Montevallo, the Lions have been on fire since—winning eight consecutive games.
The Lions' starting pitching has stepped up and provided quality starts in nearly every game—with Charlie Neely, Rick Teasley, and Brent Krauss in the three weekend roles. Neely is leading the group with a 1.83 ERA and 27 strikeouts.
The Lions will look to continue that hot streak tonight as the team continues its four-game road trip at Albany State. First pitch is set for 5:00 p.m.
