Saint Leo Baseball Announces 2013 Early Signees

Saint Leo Baseball Announces 2013 Early Signees

SAINT LEO, Fla. - Newly announced Head Baseball Coach Sean O'Connor and his staff are happy to announce the 2013 early signee class for the Saint Leo University baseball program. This year's early class consists of four young men who have dedicated themselves to excellence on and off the baseball field and who have committed to guiding this program towards a championship-caliber level.

"We worked extremely hard as a staff to identify this group of student-athletes who are able to contribute athletically right away, and succeed in the classroom as well," Assistant Coach Lee Parks said.  "Graduating 15 seniors this year, it was crucial for us to continue the momentum of building towards our goal of competing on a national level."

This November signing class consists of Ethan Lichtenberg, Kevin Games, Chad Miller, and Dylan Harris.

Ethan Lichtenberg, RHP
Tarpon Springs, Fla
Tarpon Springs HS

Lichtenberg is a tremendous competitor on and off the field for Head Coach Kris Wilson at Tarpon Springs High School.  He was an honorable mention selection to the All-Pinellas County Athletic Conference as a junior, as well as being named to three different Perfect Game All-Tournament Teams on the mound while playing for the Tampa Bay Warriors. Lichtenberg has also excelled in the classroom, maintaining a 3.7 GPA in the Veterinary Science Academy at Tarpon Springs High Springs High School.

Coach Parks' Thoughts
"Ethan is a bulldog on the mound and is expected to eat up innings for us out of the bullpen.  He pounds the strike zone and gets outs with his movement patterns and ability to locate three pitches."

Kevin Games, OF/LHP
Ocala, Fla.
College of Central Florida

Games will play a large part in our success as a program next year as he is expected to compete both in the outfield as well as on the mound.  In addition to being named MVP for Head Coach Marty Smith, Games was recognized as the Male Athlete of the Year at College of Central Florida, all while carrying a 3.2 GPA.

Coach Parks' Thoughts
"Kevin's ability to be a two way player is what attracted us to him going back to his high school career at J.W. Mitchell High School for coach Scot Wilcox. He will make an immediate impact both on the mound and in the everyday lineup.  We are always excited when we can keep a Pasco kid local."

Chad Miller, INF
Sarasota, Fla.
Sarasota Christian School

Miller is a very gifted athlete who will come in and compete right away for a position on the left side of the infield.  He helped lead Sarasota Christian as a junior with a .409 batting average while stealing 13 bases.  In the summer, he competed with the Florida Burn who won the 16 and under Perfect Game World Series event in Atlanta, Ga. Miller was named to the All-Tournament team twice throughout the summer.

Coach Parks' Thoughts
"Chad is a very projectable athlete who we expect to contribute on the field right away.  His 3.5 high school GPA as well as his accomplishments with the Burn prove he is ready for Saint Leo both athletically and academically."

Dylan Harris, INF
Land O' Lakes, Fla.
Land O' Lakes HS

Harris is an athletic infielder with the ability to contribute right away on the infield.  He was a First-Team All-Conference selection, and was named to the First-Team All-State academic team while hitting .412 for Coach Calvin Baisley's Land O' Lakes Gators.  A member of the National English Honors Society, Harris had made the honor roll for all four years of his high school career.
Coach Parks' Thoughts
"Dylan is an athletic kid who can contribute at multiple positions around the field.  His ability to consistently barrel balls up is something that stood out immediately throughout the recruiting process.  His academics are off the charts and his ability to hit near the top of the lineup will make an impact on this team."
