Gold Team takes 2012 Blood Bowl with 4-0 Victory
SAINT LEO, Fla. - The Gold team, coached by Lee Parks, won Game 2 of the 2012 Blood Bowl on Thursday night in a 4-0 triumph over the Black squad at Thomas B. Southard Stadium. The victory gives Gold a sweep of this year's Blood Bowl and means that the Black squad will donate blood on November 28.
The Gold team pitching would highlight the game holding the Black squad scoreless while allowing only one hit through the seven inning contest. Gold Squad starting pitcher Charles Neely would get the win going three innings of scoreless and hitless baseball while striking out two. Neely would also help his cause at the plate hitting a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the second, scoring Blake Turner for the first run of the game.
Lefty Brandon Terry would follow Neely on the mound throwing three innings of scoreless baseball while striking out five of the 10 hitters he faced. Terry would also add an infield single to add to his evening.
The final run for the Gold Squad would cross in the bottom of the sixth when Blake Turner would score on a RBI single by Brandon Mumaw.
Senior closer Matt Hewitt would close out the game, striking out one and giving the Gold squad its third Blood Bowl Championship in five years.
Game 3 of the series will still be played Monday, November 5 at 5 p.m. with stakes still to be determined by the Seniors. Admission is free to the public.
