Albers Selected to 2011 Florida League All-Star Game

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo pitcher Adam Albers was selected to compete for the North squad in the 2011 Florida Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 12 from Historic Sanford Stadium in Sanford, Fla.

The junior righty is currently a member of the Sanford River Rats and has compiled a 2.65 ERA in 17 innings while striking out eight batters and surrendering only eight walks.

Albers was one of nine pitchers selected to the North team, and was one six Sunshine State Conference athletes to make the squad.

Last season for the Lions, Albers had a solid campaign out of the bullpen allowing only nine earned runs in 21.2 innings of work. He finished the season with a 3.80 ERA.

Gates for Tuesday's contest will open at 4:30 p.m. The All-Star game is currently set for 7:00 p.m. with the annual homerun derby preceding action at 6:00 p.m.
