SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo Baseball third baseman Aaron McLamar was named the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week for the period ending March 22, it was announced on Monday by Commissioner Michael J. Marcil.

McLamar led the Lions to a 3-3 weekly mark, including an SSC series win over No. 20 Lynn as he batted .474 with 10 RBI and eight runs. He tallied multiple hits in five of six games, notching two doubles and three home runs.

Trailing 6-1 at West Florida, he hit two home runs to give SLU a 7-6 lead that the bullpen couldn't preserve in an 8-7 loss.  In the series opening setback against Lynn, the Hudson, Fla. native went 2-for-4 with a double and a home run. He was 2-for-3 with another double in a 7-3 series-clinching win in the finale.

The Saint Leo senior completed the week with a 1.053 slugging percentage and a .560 on-base percentage, helping the team get their first conference series win of the season.

McLamar and the Lions will take a break from SSC play this week as they travel to Warner University on Tuesday for a rematch with the Royals.  Saint Leo managed a 3-2 win over Warner at the end of February at home.  First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. in Lake Wales, Fla.  They return to SSC competition on Friday as they welcome Florida Southern to Thomas B. Southard Stadium with the first pitch of the game scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
