Saint Leo, Fla. (May 14, 2008) – A trio of Saint Leo University baseball players were named to the All-Sunshine State Conference Baseball Team, it was announced Wednesday by SSC Commissioner Michael J. Marcil.  2B Jonathan Duncan (Jr., Starke, Fla.), LF T.J. Alonzo (Jr., Tampa, Fla.) and C Braulio Pardo (Jr., Land O’Lakes, Fla.) were all First Team selections.

Nova Southeastern's Bryan Cook was named SSC Player of the Year. Barry's Bobby Hernandez was recognized as Pitcher of the Year, while Florida Tech's Matt Schurig was chosen Freshman of the Year. Tampa's Joe Urso was tabbed Coach of the Year.

Saint Leo’s total of three First Team selections was second only to Nova Southeastern who had four First Team members.

Duncan batted .341 with 48 RBI in 2008, ranking fourth for the Lions in both categories.  He had nine doubles, seven home runs and two triples as a junior.  Alonzo was among the SSC leaders in several offensive categories, including fourth in RBI (60) and third in home runs (18).  He led Saint Leo in both categories and finished the year with a .328 BA in 51 games played.  Pardo was third in batting average for the Lions, hitting at a .356 clip and totaling 21 RBI and three home runs.  The junior catcher also gunned down a total of 11 base runners and picked off two more.

Voting for the All-Conference baseball team was conducted among the league's baseball coaches and sports information directors.
