Saint Leo, Fla. (February 25, 2008) – Saint Leo University baseball player Bobby Munoz (Jr., Tampa, Fla.) was named Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week, it was announced Monday by SSC Commissioner Michael J. Marcil.

Munoz had a big week for the Lions, as Saint Leo went 3-2.  Munoz batted .556 with six runs, eight RBI, a home run, a triple and a double. Slugging .889, he hit safely in all five games and posted four multi-hit performances. In a 9-8 win against Bentley, he was 2-for-4 with a triple and four RBI. In an 11-6 victory over Concordia-St. Paul, he went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Munoz recorded a .636 OBP and was also successful in both of his stolen base attempts.

Saint Leo student-athletes have now claimed a total of 19 SSC Player of the Week honors in the 2007-08 season.  Munoz was the second baseball player to be recognized this season.

The Saint Leo baseball team (10-5) will head to Valdosta, Ga. tomorrow for a non-conference game against Valdosta State University.  First pitch is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
