St. Petersburg, Fla. (February 19, 2008) – The Saint Leo University baseball team (8-3) stretched its winning streak to six with a 12-6 win over Eckerd College (3-8) on Tuesday night at Turley Field in St. Petersburg, Fla.

The six through nine batters in the Lions’ lineup went a combined 9-for-19 with nine RBI, as Brandin Daniel (Sr., Tampa, Fla.) and Braulio Pardo (Jr., Tampa, Fla.) both had three RBI apiece.  Daniel was 2-for-3 with a home run.  All but two batters registered hits in the game for Saint Leo, including 3-for-5 performances by Jonathan Duncan (Jr., Starke, Fla.) and Bobby Munoz (Jr., Tampa, Fla.)

The Lions opened the scoring with a single run in the second, and doubled the advantage in the fourth.  After Eckerd cut the lead in half with a run in the bottom of the fourth, Saint Leo blew the game wide open with a six-run fifth inning.  The Lions sent 11 players to the plate in the six-run inning.

Saint Leo wrapped up the win with runs in each of the final three innings en route to a second win of the season over Eckerd.  Reliever Dale Slimick (Jr., Sarasota, Fla.) earned his first win (1-0) after start Shane Buriff (Sr., Lutz, Fla.) went the opening 4.2 innings.  Slimick went 2.2 innings to earn the win.

The Lions return to the diamond tomorrow night at home versus Bentley College.  First pitch is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. at Southard Stadium.
