Saint Leo, Fla. (August 10, 2007) – Saint Leo University head baseball coach Ricky Ware has announced the signing of Peter Barrett, Jr. for the 2008 season.

Barrett enjoyed a successful playing career at Wootton High School in Washington, D.C. where he featured as an outfielder, pitcher and designated hitter.  As a senior, he batted .444 with a pair of doubles, one home run and 23 RBI en route to being named First Team All-Met by The Washington Post.

During his junior season, Barrett batted .368 with five homers, 20 RBI and four doubles.  He also went 24.1 innings on the mound with a 1.44 ERA and 30 strikeouts while walking just 15 and picking up a pair of saves.

Barrett has three brothers, Russell (20), Brian (9) and Seamus (7).  He will join a Lion team that went 26-25 in 2007 and finished seventh in the Sunshine State Conference with a 10-14 record in the league.
