Saint Leo, Fla. (May 19, 2007) – Saint Leo University left-handed pitcher Ryan Clark (Jr., Tampa, Fla.) was named to the 2007 NCAA ABCA/Rawlings All-South Region First Team on Saturday.
Clark was one of four starting pitchers named to the First Team along with Tampa’s Kevin Ferguson, Rollins’ David Nathanson and Tusculum’s Kevin Hammonds. Ferguson was named the 2007 ABCA/Rawlings South Region Pitcher of the Year. Lynn University outfielder Nicolas Boisvert was the South Region Player of the Year.
Clark went 9-2 with a 2.61 ERA in 2007 and was a First Team All-Sunshine State Conference selection earlier this week. The junior lefty finished the year tied for the Sunshine State Conference lead with 89 strikeouts, as he allowed just 24 earned runs in 82.2 innings and limited opponents to a .264 batting average.
The Lions’ starting left-hander will now advance to the national ballot and will be eligible for the 2007 NCAA ABCA/Rawlings All-American Team.
