Saint Leo, Fla. (May 10, 2007) – Saint Leo University senior leftfielder Sean VanGuilder (Tallahassee, Fla.) was named to the 2007 CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team on Thursday.  VanGuilder’s selection to the first team means that he will advance to the ballot for Academic All-American.

VanGuilder was a steady performer throughout the 2007 season for the Lions, finishing the year second on the team with a .352 batting average (63-for-179) and a career-high 25 RBI.  He hit safely in all but nine games, totaled 19 multiple-hit games, including five three-hit contests and eight multiple-RBI games

In addition, VanGuilder was third on the team with 12 doubles.  He also totaled nine sacrifice hits and was second on the team with 14 stolen bases in 16 attempts.

Currently working toward his Master’s in Business Administration, VanGuilder finished his undergraduate studies with a degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Health Services.

The Saint Leo University baseball team finished the 2007 season with a 26-25 record overall.  The Lions’ 10-14 mark in the Sunshine State Conference was good for a tie for sixth-place in the league.
