SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo baseball senior Tyler Bauman, was selected to the Google Cloud Academic All-District team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
 
Bauman made the Academic All-District First Team as a pitcher for District 5 who includes the Gulf South Conference, the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and the Sunshine State Conference. By making the first team, Bauman is eligible for the Academic All-America team, which will be released June 6.
 
The Jensen Beach, Florida native was nominated for excellence in academics as well as his performance on the field.
 
The lone lefty on staff and sports business major enters the final weekend with a 3-1 record on the mound with 44 innings of work including 40 strikeouts. He recorded a season high 11 strikeouts against West Alabama on February 17 in the Lions 2-1 victory. Bauman owns a 4.30 ERA while holding opponents to a .291 batting average.

The Sunshine State Conference is represented by five players where Florida Southern leads the way with two, J.T. Hintzen and J.J. Niekro; Tampa with one, Nick DeTringo; Lynn with one, Gabe Martinez; and the Lions' Tyler Bauman.
 
Saint Leo returns to the diamond May 11-12 when the Lions host Embry-Riddle for the final regular season series of the 2018 season. First pitch is set for 6 pm Friday evening at Thomas B. Southard Stadium.
