No. 6 men’s lacrosse advance in USILA rankings

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's lacrosse team advanced to No. 6 in Monday's United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association poll release. The Lions ascended two spots, from No. 8 to No. 6, following a 23-5 decision over Sunshine State Conference foe Palm Beach Atlantic on Thursday.

The Lions have found the back of the net 154 times led by Kyle Pauwels and Jake Gilmour with 47 points apiece; Pauwels with 34 goals, 13 assists and Gilmour with 22 goals, 25 assists. Charlie Kurtenbach netted 23 while assisting in 21 to enter the week with 44 points, while collecting 27 ground balls and seven caused turnovers.

The faceoff specialist for the Green and Gold is Jordan Williams grabbing 107-of-210 possessions from the 'X'. After nine games, Williams has picked up 42 ground balls while fellow midfielder Julian Taylor has 29.

In goal, Thomas Tatarian has 119 saves in 518 minutes of action. In the game Thursday, Tatarian earned nine saves, cutting his season goals allowed average to 8.8.

On Wednesday, April 4, Saint Leo hosts Rollins College with faceoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
