Mitts earns second SSC Pitcher of the Week honor this season

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo softball right handed hurler Alison Mitts was named the Sunshine State Conference Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season after her performance for the week March 19-25. Mitts tossed a perfect game for the Lions on Friday, March 23 as the Green and Gold went on to defeat Lynn 2-0.
 
Alison Mitts made two appearances on the week with 12 innings of work. In her 12 innings, she recorded 10 strikeouts, allowed just three hits and two runs while holding opponents to a .079 batting average.
 
In her complete game shutout start Friday night, Mitts went 7.0 innings and completed her perfect game with a groundout to the third baseman, Ashley Morris. Mitts recorded eight strikeouts and retired all 21 batters in order.

The SSC Player of the Week honor for Mitts is the second of the season and career, while it is the Lions' fourth weekly award this season joining Kacie Kelly and Amanda James.
 
Saint Leo (25-10, 9-9 SSC) will host Florida Southern Wednesday, March 28 for a single game at 7 p.m. before a doubleheader Thursday, March 29 at 5 p.m. at University Softball Stadium.
