SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo softball moved up one spot in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Coaches Poll to No. 9, after a week at No. 10, when the NFCA released the fourth weekly rankings for Division II.

The Lions (22-7, 5-5 SSC) moved up to ninth after posting a 8-1 record between rankings last week. The Lions took down Tiffin (9-1, 5-0) on March 7 before picking up a 2-1 Sunshine State Conference series win over Nova Southeastern 2-1, with scores of 4-1 and 7-6 on March 10. The Green and Gold wrapped up play with a pair of wins on March 13 5-0 and 8-0 over Caldwell.

Saint Leo entered the season as the 23rd ranked team and moved to 10th in the first rankings before moving two spots to eighth for the second week. The Lions fell back to 10th for the third week of rankings before climbing to ninth for the fourth week.

The Lions were joined by Palm Beach Atlantic as the two teams from the SSC in the NFCA Coaches Poll as the Sailfish stood still at No. 13 in the latest standings.
 
Saint Leo returns to action on March 16-17 in St. Petersburg, Fla. when they Lions take on Eckerd. First pitch Friday is slated for 7 p.m.
