SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo's
Hunter Bains and
Matija Rafaj were named to the 2018 Sunshine State Conference Men's Swimming Second Team on Thursday.
Hunter Bain, a senior, is a four time NCAA qualifier and two-year captain for the Saint Leo Lions. During the 2018 SSC Championships, Bains acquired three silver medals competing in the 200-freestyle relay, 800-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle event. He added a bronze to his medal count in the 100-yard freestyle relay, turning in an NCAA provisional time of 2:57.51.
Matija Rafaj collected a gold and silver medal at the SSC Championships during his sophomore campaign. Rafaj took home a silver medal in the 1000-meter freestyle obtaining an 'A' Cut time of 9:02.43 while highlighting a gold medal finish in the 500-yeard freestyle.
Both Hunter and Rafaj received invitations to advance to the NCAA Division II Championships on March 14-17 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
