SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo men's lacrosse moved up from #19 to #17 among the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division II Coaches Poll for the week of February 12. Saint Leo coasted to a 20-6 win over Lincoln Memorial on Saturday raising the Lions record to 2-0.
Kayle Pauwels racked up nine points from three goals off five shots plus six assists in the win. Pauwels assisted four goals in the opening six minutes of play. In addition, he earned three groundballs.
Charlie Kurtenbach led the Lions' scoring with five goals from 12 shots.
The home opener featured a historic day as
Jake Gilmour became Saint Leo's newest career points holder at 177 points from 87 goals, 90 assists. Gilmour tallied two goals, four assists against the Railsplitters.
In net,
Thomas Tatarian earned 18 saves in 60 minutes of action.
The Lions return to action on Friday, February 16 at 7:00 p.m. at University Turf Stadium against Young Harris College Mountain Lions (0-2).
