SAINT LEO, Fla. –
Nikira Hooks earned her first Sunshine State Conference weekly honor on Monday as the SSC women's basketball offensive player of the week.
The senior forward led the Lions to a 2-0 week defeating Nova Southeastern 55-52 and Barry 68-61, extending Saint Leo's streak to three. She scored 42 points including career-high 25 points against Nova Southeastern on Wednesday.
On the week, Hooks shot .462 FG% (12-26), .444 3FG% (4-9) and .875 FG% (14-16). Off the glass, she averaged nine rebounds a game, totaling 18 from five offensive rebounds, 13 defensive rebounds. She marked the rest of the stat sheet with five assists, a block and three steals.
On Saturday against Barry, she posted a double double scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds along with four assists and two steals in the Lions' victory.
Saint Leo returns to action on Saturday, February 17 at Lynn starting at 2:00 p.m.
