SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo Head Baseball Coach Rick O'Dette signed seven prospects to National Letters-of-Intent during the November signing period, all of whom will join the Lions for the 2018-19 academic year.

"We are extremely excited about our first recruiting class here at Saint Leo University," said O'Dette. "We feel that we have added some key pieces to our future success, while addressing some of our immediate needs with this class."

"Coach Kennedy, Branca and DePew have worked tirelessly to assure that we have not only added great players, but most importantly, great overall people. I could not be happier in the direction that Saint Leo baseball is headed," said O'Dette.

Ruddy Gomez
RHP / 6-2 / 190 lbs.
Hialeah, Fla. / Mater Academy Lakes HS
Ruddy posted a 3.37 ERA with 40 strikeouts over 45.2 innings pitched with Mater Academy Lakes… Honorable Mention All-America selection by PerfectGame.org as a junior… named a Top 500 National Prospect by PerfectGame.org.

Kaleb Huxford
RHP / 6-1 / 185 lbs.
Rockville, Ind. / Lincoln Trail College (Ill.)
Posted a 4.94 ERA with 51 strikeouts over 54.2 innings pitched in his freshman season at Lincoln Trail College… led the Statesmen to a NJCAA District Championship appearance… ranked the 31st prospect in the state of Indiana in 2016 by Prep Baseball Report.

Waylon Richardson
RHP / 6-5 / 225 lbs.
Cromwell, Ind. / Kankakee Community College (Ill.)
Top reliever for Kankakee's 2017 NJCAA Division II National Championship team… recorded nine saves and a 2-0 record in 27 appearances over 30.0 innings pitched, with 39 strikeouts against just eight walks.

Huston Richter
LHP / 6-0 / 170 lbs.
Lutz, Fla. / George M. Steinbrenner HS
Posted a 5-2 record with 2.85 ERA and 45 strikeouts during his junior campaign at Steinbrenner HS… ranked the 97th-best prospect in Florida by Prep Baseball Report, and sixth among LHP… awarded the team's "Unsung Hero Award".

Trevor Smisek
LHP / 6-0 / 200 lbs.
Le Center, Minn. / Ellsworth Community College (Iowa)
Recorded 31 strikeouts over 49.0 innings pitched during his freshman season at Ellsworth C.C., posting a 9.18 ERA… recorded a 2.53 ERA during Summer 2017 with the Duluth (Minn.) Huskies of the Northwoods League, with 23 strikeouts over 32.0 innings pitched.

Alec Villanueva
2B / 5-11 / 185 lbs.
Oakland Park, Fla. / Westminster Academy
Batted .397 during his junior season with a .566 on base percentage… 2017 Honorable All-Broward County from both the Miami Herald and the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel… 2017 All-District Team… named Honorable Mention All-America by PerfectGame.org.

Michael Wyman
1B / 6-2 / 210 lbs.
Greenwood, Ind. / Center Grove HS
Earned Honorable Mention All-State, All-County, and All-Conference honors as a junior… batted .390 with nine doubles and three home runs… drove in 26 RBI during his junior campaign… ranked 58th in the state of Indiana by Prep Baseball Report, and second among first basemen.
