Saint Leo Athletics finishes Fall at No. 24 Learfield Directors’ Cup rankings

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo University finished the Fall ranked No. 24 in the 2017-18 Learfield Directors' Cup standings report, released Thursday morning by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).

The Lions had the highest finish of any Sunshine State Conference institution with 147.0 points. Saint Leo gained 50.0 points in this final rankings report from women's volleyball, after the Lions advanced to the semifinal of the NCAA South Region tournament.

Saint Leo's closest SSC rival in the Learfield Directors' Cup standings was Florida Southern College, which was ranked No. 37 with 121.00 points. A total of seven SSC institutions were ranked among the top 100 in the final Fall Directors' Cup standings report, including four among the top 50.

Colorado School of Mines is atop the Learfield Directors' Cup standings with 329.0 points, followed by California Baptist with 299.0 points. Shippensburg (Pa.) University is third with 262.5 points.

The Learfield Cup Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships.

The next Learfield Directors' Cup standings update will be announced on March 15, 2018, with points awarded for participation in the NCAA swimming and diving, track and field, wrestling, skiing, and rifle championships.
