SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo volleyball moved up one spot in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association top 25 Coaches' Poll announced Monday.
Saint Leo moves up one spot after a 2-0 week with a 3-2 win over Nova Southeastern on Nov. 3 and a 3-1 win over Barry on Nov. 4.
The Green and Gold were paced by
Ashley Quero who notched 31 kills on a .208 clip with seven digs, two blocks and one ace.
Jenya Kruglova led the back row as the senior scooped up a team-high 52 digs on the weekend with a 5.78 per set average. Kruglova added eight assists and two aces.
Anna Garrett led the charge from the middle dishing out 95 assists on 268 attempts for a .354 percentage. Garrett tallied 10.5 assists per set while she tallied seven kills, two aces and 14 digs on the weekend, as well as three blocks.
The Lions returned to the AVCA top 25 poll after a week outside of the top 25. This is the 25th time all-time the Green and Gold have been ranked in the weekly top 25 polls. Saint Leo was ranked for three weeks in 2008, nine weeks in 2009 and four weeks in 2010 while they add five in 2016 already.
In the AVCA poll, the Lions were joined by Palm Beach Atlantic (22-3) at no. 10. The Sailfish were the fourth ranked team in the nation for seven weeks prior to moving up to third two weeks ago and falling to sixth and now 10th. Florida Southern made their first appearance into the top 25 in at no. 24 after the Moccasins swept PBA in three straight sets on Nov. 3.
Saint Leo returns to action Tuesday, Nov. 7 at home against Eckerd at 7 p.m. inside the Marion Bowman Activities Center.
