SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo volleyball senior
Jenya Kruglova was named to the College of Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District™ 5 First Team, announced Thursday afternoon.
The Moscow, Russia native is one of seven student-athletes chosen for the honor, including one of five from the Sunshine State Conference. The SSC is joined by the Gulf South Conference and South Intercollegiate Conference to make up District 5.
Kruglova stands in third in total digs in the SSC with 466 and is sixth in digs per set at 4.57, where both numbers lead the Lions this season. Adding to her statline, Kruglova has picked up 66 assists, 15 aces and tallied one kill.
The accounting major is the second straight honoree for the Lions team, joining Jamee Townsend from 2016. Kruglova along with Townsend make up two of the three volleyball student-athletes to earn the CoSIDA All-District™ honor, as Kaitlin McKenna earned the honor in 2009.
First-team Academic All-District™ honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
