Saint Leo Director of Athletics Francis X. Reidy named Sarah Summerfield the acting head coach for the nationally recognized Saint Leo University women's tennis program on October 26, 2013.
Summerfield, who has served as a graduate assistant coach for the program since August of 2013, take over a nationally ranked tennis team that has visited the regional tournament three times each in the last six years.
Although new to Saint Leo, Summerfield brings a wealth of knowledge to the women’s tennis program in keeping it atop the national spotlight.
In addition to competing as a finalist at the Memphis Indoor Southern Open and being ranked 22nd in the USTA Top 500 National List, Summerfield competed at the Division I University of Wyoming where she was the winningest player for singles in Wyoming's state history.
The native of Chester, New Jersey also served as her team's number one singles player, a team captain, and a S.A.A.C. representative for the athletic department. She has seen much success at the regional and national level of Division I athletics.
