SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo men’s golfer Nick Brothers has been named Saint Leo Athlete of the Week, for the period ending October 16.
Brothers, a Crystal River, Fla. native, helped his team to a second-place showing at the University of North Alabama Invitational last Tuesday.
Challenging the par-72, 7028-yard Indian Bayou Golf Course in Destin, Fla., Brothers finished with a four-under 140 (69-71—140) as he clinched a tie for first place with Columbus State’s Justin Grice . He highlighted the tournament with a first round, three-under 69, as the total was recorded as the second-best round of the entire tournament.
Brothers used birdies on four of his final five holes to claim the lead going into the clubhouse.
The second round was just as successful for the junior as he carded a one-under 71, solidifying himself atop the leaderboard.
As a team, the Green and Gold finished seven strokes behind North Alabama as they combined to shoot an 11-under 583.
