Women's Golf Notes

  • Saint Leo women’s golf returns to the links this weekend after being idle for roughly two weeks since their win at the Stetson University Babs Steffens Invitational. The Lions posted an 18-stroke win at the Stetson tournament, with a 54-hole score of 880 (+16). Junior Amanda Jakobsson (212, -4) and senior Marie Coors (213, -3) finished 1-2 on the individual leaderboard.
  • The Lady Panther Invitational will be Saint Leo’s final event on the schedule before the Sunshine State Conference Championship on April 23-25 in Lakeland, Fla. The 54-hole tournament will be played at the Chip Powell-designed Duran Golf Club course in Viera, Fla., just down the road from Melbourne. Monday’s 36 holes of continuous play will begin with a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m., while Tuesday’s third round of 18 holes will begin with tee times starting at 8:00 a.m.

Women's Lacrosse Notes

  • The Saint Leo women's lacrosse team heads to No. 9 Florida Tech on Tuesday evening in a 7 p.m. Sunshine State Conference game.
  • The Lions are coming off an 18-12 loss to No. 15 Regis on Saturday. Senior Kelsey Burns finished with seven points, scoring a career-high six goals while adding an assist. Burns entered the game needing six points to make her way to the top of the leader board, and the senior needed just four goals to reach 100 for her career. Burns took it upon herself to make it a Senior Day to remember. Burns finished the day with six goals and an assist, bringing her career goals total to 102 and making her the first player in program history to reach the milestone. Burns also brought her career points total to 123, breaking the Saint Leo record of 121 set by Christina Minneci (2012-15). Fellow senior Caroline Fraser broke the career assist record with 43. She entered the game needing just two assists to break the Career Assists record set of 42 by Alix Murray (2012-15). Fraser now has 43 career assists as she finished the game with two assists and a goal. 
  • Saint Leo is averaging 11.86 goals this season, but are giving up 12.57 to their opponents. 
  • The Lions now have seven players who have scored 20-plus points, while Burns and Fraser have surpassed 30 points. 
  • The Panthers enter the game with a 9-2 record but are 0-1 in Sunshine State Conference play after falling in overtime to Florida Southern.
  • Allie Modica and Sara Grenier both have surpassed the 40-point mark this season. Modica has 45 points, while Grenier has 41.
