SAINT LEO, Fla. – Junior Jaime Bueno was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) DII At-Large Academic All-America® Third Team as the lone reprehensive for Saint Leo University on the Men's teams, as announced by the CoSIDA office on Wednesday afternoon.
Bueno finished with his highest singles ranking to date, falling in at No. 17, and earning Intercollegiate All-America honors for his singles play.
In 2017, Bueno finished with a 15-0 record in singles play, while going 10-5 in doubles play. The economics major finished the season on an 8-1 run in doubles matches with partner Willem Van Den Akker.
The junior from Santiago, Chile was recently named both the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National and South Region Player to Watch. He also was named to the 2017 All-Sunshine State Conference First Team for his play at No. 3 singles and earned one SSC Male Tennis Athlete of the Week honor during the season.
The at-large program for the CoSIDA Academic All-America® program includes the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, water polo for both men and women; bowling, crew and field hockey for women; and volleyball and wrestling for men.
