126 Saint Leo student-athletes make SSC Honor Roll

MELBOURNE, Fla. – Saint Leo University contributed 126 student-athletes to the Sunshine State Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll for Spring 2015, including seven members with a perfect 4.00 grade-point average for the semester. The Lions were one of just five schools to supply triple-digit honor roll members to the record breaking list of 1,023 student-athletes announced Monday, June 29 by Commissioner Ed Pasque.

This is the first time in conference history the honor roll numbers have eclipsed the millennium mark, aided by 149 student-athletes boasting a perfect 4.00 grade-point average for the semester. The previous high mark for conference honorees was set at 958 student-athletes in the spring of 2014, a semester that also saw 134 perfect 4.00 grade-point averages.

Men’s lacrosse led the Green and Gold with 21 members named to the Commissioner’s Honor Roll in its inaugural year of being eligible for the distinction, while women’s swimming had two of the seven perfect 4.00 grade-point average achievers.

To be eligible for the Spring SSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll, a student-athlete must post a minimum grade-point average of 3.20 on a scale of 4.00. Participants in the sports of men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s swimming, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s tennis, women’s rowing, baseball, softball, and men’s and women’s lacrosse were eligible for the spring honor roll.
